Goddess Locs
& Faux Locs.
Flowing, textured and effortlessly striking. The loc look — without the commitment. One of our most requested and dramatic styles.

Goddess Locs vs Faux Locs
Both goddess locs and faux locs are protective braid styles that mimic the look of natural dreadlocks without requiring you to permanently loc your own hair. The key distinction is in the texture of the ends.
Faux Locs are wrapped uniformly all the way to the tip, giving a neat, cylindrical loc appearance throughout. They have a very structured, clean finish that closely resembles mature natural dreadlocks.
Goddess Locs feature the same wrapped body but leave the ends partially unwrapped — exposing loose, wavy or curly hair at the tips. This gives a more relaxed, bohemian finish with movement and texture, which is why they tend to be our most requested version.
Installation Process
Both styles are installed by wrapping extension hair around braided sections or natural hair using a crochet hook or hand-wrapping technique. The process requires precision and time — typically 6 to 10 hours for a full set depending on the length and thickness of the locs.
At Mamacita Lounge, we use high-quality wavy and straight extension hair to achieve both styles, and our stylists are experienced in creating clean, long-lasting results that look natural from the root.

Common Questions
How long does it take to install goddess locs?
A full head of goddess locs or faux locs typically takes 6 to 10 hours depending on the number of locs, their thickness, and the desired length. This is one of the more time-intensive styles we offer, but the result is one of the most striking and longest-lasting.
Can goddess locs be done at my hotel?
Yes. This is a popular mobile service for tourists and resort guests in Mauritius. Given the longer session time, we recommend booking early in the morning so the installation is complete by early evening. WhatsApp us to plan your slot.
Will locs damage my natural hair?
Not when installed correctly. Faux locs and goddess locs protect the natural hair underneath rather than exposing it to daily manipulation. However, locs that are installed too tightly or left in for too long can cause stress on the hairline. Our stylists install at a safe tension and advise on the recommended wear time.
What’s the difference between faux locs and goddess locs in practice?
Both look very similar from a distance and photos. The main visual difference is that goddess locs have visible wavy or curly hair at the tips, giving a more textured, bohemian appearance. Faux locs are wrapped all the way to the end for a cleaner, more uniform loc aesthetic. If in doubt, goddess locs tend to photograph better and move more naturally.
